Most Shoppers Say Poor Shipping Options Derail Ecommerce Orders
eCommerce merchants have faced a major challenge with Amazon setting customer expectations that they will get “free” shipping, but now with Amazon upgrading to next day delivery for most Prime orders, the challenge has gotten even tougher. Rakuten Intelligence reports that Click-to-Door delivery speed for Amazon is down to 3.2 days vs 6.0 days for all other merchants as of December 2018. Amazon has undoubtedly reduced that even further by now. On top of this a recent BigCommerce survey published in MultiChannel Merchant shows that 77% of customers have abandoned a purchase due to dissatisfaction with shipping options, and 50% avoid merchants who don’t offer free shipping.
